01. What this site stores on your device
We remember your theme, currency and cookie choices. Google Analytics cookies are used only if you accept analytics, and Google Ads cookies only if you accept ad measurement:
south-currency
A first-party preference cookie containing USD, GBP or CAD, saved only when you choose a currency. It lasts 180 days and is sent to this website so the prices you chose appear as the page loads. It is not used for tracking.
south-analytics-consent, south-ads-consent and south-statistics-choice
Your accepted or rejected analytics and ad measurement choices, each kept in local storage for 180 days. They are not sent to us. We ask again after each expires. A separate south-statistics-choice value remembers your on/off choice for anonymous website counts, with no identifier or automatic expiry. It is created only when you choose, is sent to our website to apply that choice, and is not stored in the statistics database. Clear it by clearing site storage. Reject all switches it off; Accept all allows it, while browser privacy signals still take precedence.
_ga, _ga_95PG1Y7WXY, _gcl_au, _gcl_aw and _gcl_ls
Google Analytics identifiers that distinguish visits and sessions after you accept analytics, and Google Ads identifiers, set after you accept ad measurement, that tell us which of our ads led to a website read, a brief or a booked call. We set a 180-day expiry for the analytics identifiers, renewed during accepted visits; Google sets the Ads identifiers for up to 90 days. Google also keeps the ad click in local storage as _gcl_ls for up to 90 days. Rejecting either stops it and removes its cookies from this site; rejecting ad measurement also removes _gcl_ls. With ad measurement accepted, south-lead-attribution keeps campaign tags and the ad click in this tab’s session storage for use for up to 30 minutes, so they can accompany an enquiry after you visit another page. A new campaign replaces it; rejecting ad measurement removes it. Closing the tab clears the record.
south-theme
Your light, dark or system theme choice. Kept in your browser’s local storage and not sent to us. It has no automatic expiry and stays until you change it or clear this site’s browser data.
02. Your theme and currency preferences
Before you choose a currency, Vercel’s country-level location selects GBP in the UK, CAD in Canada and USD elsewhere. We do not request your precise location or save a cookie for this automatic choice.
Your theme value exists only to apply the appearance you chose. It is not used to identify you or follow your activity. Before you make a choice, the site follows your device’s light or dark setting without saving a preference.
We do not save enquiry drafts in local storage or session storage. If a submission fails, the form keeps your text on the page so you can try again. Reloading or leaving the page may lose those details.
03. Website counts and optional Google measurement
Google Analytics 4 helps us understand which pages people visit, how far they get through our forms and campaign pages, and whether enquiries work. Google Tag Manager loads and manages the analytics tags. If you also accept ad measurement, Google Ads tells us which of our ads you clicked and whether that visit led to a website read, a brief or a booked call. Neither is loaded before you choose, and neither loads if you reject it. Separately, first-party website counts add page views and selected form steps directly to daily totals. They use no visitor or session identifier, fingerprint, query string, referrer or form content, and are never sent to Google or joined to ads or lead records. These are page/event counts, not unique people or individual journeys.
After you accept, Google receives these events and technical information such as browser and device details, approximate location and the referring website. Analytics page addresses keep no query strings or fragments, except a paid link’s campaign tags (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term and utm_content). For ad measurement, Google also receives the page address with the ad’s click identifier and, when you book a call or send a brief through South’s website, a scrambled (hashed) copy of your email address to match it to your ad click. We do not send your name, enquiry text, answers or other form contents to Google.
We use your consent for each, asked for separately. Personalised advertising and Meta tracking are not enabled: your visit isn’t used to build advertising audiences. A booking or brief made before you choose counts for its ad only if you then accept. The site and enquiry forms work whatever you choose. The separate counter defaults on in the UK and US, using the country supplied by Vercel. Elsewhere, including an unknown location, it needs your choice. In the UK its sole purpose is website improvement under the statistical purposes exception. Turn it off free of charge in Preferences or with Reject all; Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track stop it too. An existing analytics refusal is respected unless you expressly choose otherwise.
You can change either choice in Preferences at any time. Rejecting stops further collection and removes this site’s Google Analytics or Google Ads cookies, along with _gcl_ls when you reject ad measurement; it does not remove records already collected. See our Privacy policy for data-rights requests. For anonymous counts, our website sends Supabase only an approved page path and event name. The database increments a daily total without retaining the event, IP or browser details. Daily totals are deleted after 400 days by daily cleanup. Hosting/security request logs remain separate, and temporary scrambled address counts prevent abuse for ten minutes. Changing your preference stops further counts; existing anonymous totals cannot identify or remove a particular person.
04. Third parties you choose to visit
Links may take you to other websites, such as our booking page on Cal.com, which have their own privacy and cookie policies. When you follow our booking link with analytics or ad measurement accepted, we pass those choices for that calendar visit and allow Google to connect it to your South visit. The hand-off expires after two minutes and measurement on the open calendar stops after 30 minutes. It counts a successful booking using a scrambled booking reference, without sending your booking name, email, answers or the raw confirmation address to Google. A tab-only south-cal-booked record prevents repeat completion events. A direct or reloaded calendar visit without a fresh hand-off does not activate this measurement. To stop it sooner, close the calendar and change your choices in South’s Preferences before returning; cookies already set on cal.com can be cleared in your browser. Campaign tags may also accompany the booking for our enquiry records; ad click identifiers are included only with ad measurement accepted.
05. Changing your preferences
Change currency using the selector in the footer. Change your colour theme, analytics and ad measurement choices using Preferences in the footer or the button below. Choose System to follow your device’s appearance. To remove the saved values altogether, clear this site’s data in your browser settings.
